“Blink”

I.

This fragile life

Short and you blink and…

Yet it feels so heavy,

Heavy head-to-toe

The familiar deep ache I feel

And I know,

Sometimes life is its heaviest

When it’s full

My back hurts, maybe, because

I want a full life.

Every time I feel a little

Joy and…

Lighter and lighter so,

Sometimes I choose to stand in it.

II.

Life’s fragile feeling

Short as a blink and…

Still so heavy feeling,

Heavy head-to-toe

Feeling the familiar

Aches and I know

Life is its heaviest

When it’s full

Back hurting, feeling like—

I want a full life.

A little

Joy and…

Lighter, lighter so,

I choose to stand in it.

III.

feeling fragile

and short as a blink

and heavy felt,

buried head-to-toe in heavy

feeling the familiar

aches, and knowing

life’s heaviest full—

the hurt feeling of

a full life.

every little joy

lighter and lighter so,

choose to stand in it.
